Fruechte Family Dorsets started back in 1996 as a 4-H and FFA project. It has since grown into the competetive flock that it is today.
Our #1 priority is to raise productive sheep that are easy to maintain. Here in South Dakota, livestock must be able to go out on pasture without any feed supplements. Ewes that can take care of themselves and their lambs during lambing season is a crucial part of raising a productive flock. That means only intervening when it is absolutely crucial. This is something we take great pride in.
Our goal is to maintain the "Production First" mentality while staying competetive in the show ring. This is what a true "Seed Stock" operation should be.
